A Personal Appeal from BookNom Founder Matt Blind
BookNom.net is actively recruiting reviewers for the site. Even if you already write your own personal blog or work for other web sites, we’d love to have some of your reviews here as well.
- Book reviews in any subject, genre, or category are welcome — so if you blog about sci-fi or comics and needed a home for your thoughts on other fiction (& non-fiction), we have a place for you here
- It’s an all volunteer crew, so there are no requirement or quotas. If you only write one review and decide not to continue, that’s fine too.
- We only review things we like. There are no assignments. Read anything and everything, and only come back with the books you love and can’t help but recommend to people.
- Review any book, so long as you like it: it doesn’t have to be a new book, or even a book that’s still in print — we’re pointing the way to good reads no matter how old.
- We work for tips. Like I said, we’re all volunteers here, but if money is what you’re after there are ways to earn a few bucks here and there. You can sign up as an affiliate to a number of online sales sites, and your earnings only improve when you write more reviews — and when you convince people to at least try the books you love: The content is the ad, and we’re selling books.
There are some resources and guidelines already posted to the site, as well as a few reviews — we just launched [on 21 February] so it’ll be a tad thin for a couple of weeks — but I hope you like what you see.
##
Hi, my name is Matt Blind. I’ve been a bookseller for over 10 years, and a blogger for more than 7. BookNom is a project I’ve been working on for months, and I’m excited to finally have a working site, not just for our intended audience, but for booksellers who read books and love books and can’t stop talking about the books.
I’d be pleased if you’d join me in this experiment. It’s a new kind of online bookselling, ideally doing something that neither Amazon nor physical bookstores can.
Send me an email [matt@booknom.net] or find me on twitter [@ProfessorBlind] — I’ll be happy to answer your questions, and to help you get started as a contributor to BookNom.
